The first page of this letter is cross-written. The letter begins about 1/3 of the way down and ends of the same page. I believe the letter speaks for itself. My great grandmother kept letters from her friend, Louise Lewis, through 1892. In trying to learn more about this family, I was very pleased to discover that Louise's son, Sidney Gulick, would go on to work for peaceful relationships between Japan and America and was a defender of Japanese-American rights.
